So I finally made some time to go check out the most badass art show in D.C. Held yearly (this one being its 10th ann.) Artomatic showcases art from students, photo, graphic, musicians, comedians, sculptors; all sorts of artists... you name it - it's there.  It honestly takes a few visits to see everything, I was there about 2 hrs till closing and I only had time to see 2 floors...Basically the reasons I love Artomatic are as such:

A: You can drink :]

B: Young artists = Cool, interesting shit.

& 

C: 9 floors of various art?! FREE?! Sign me up!

So make time to go check out all the good stuff. And after, grab a dog with chili from the On the Fly vendor outside;(trust me, it's organic-junk-foody-goodness) and take a walk down Half St. Its really starting to look quite nice. For Info and Direction to artomatic, click here.

Ha!! These were a series of Painting inspired to make you laugh! Check out the licence plate!!lmao.

This artist was very consititent in style..The display was like a chalk board and he wrote the prices in between the pieces with corresponding arrows... check out that Che junx.

I forgot who this artist is... But like i said, all sorts of Art by artists from all walks of life.

OMG! My fave! These door knockers are badass! Made of wood and Metal And only $60 bucks.

The L.A. Times has officially confirmed that Michael Jackson has died.

I got news only about an hr ago when I flipped on CNN. It's so sad, as I'm writhing this I can't fully believe he's gone. 

Apparently he collapsed earlier today in his home, and was taken to the hospital suffering cardiac arrest. It was then reported that he was in a coma; then not more than 20 minues later they confirm he died.

I can remember walking through the market in EL Salvador about a year ago and hearing MJ's songs blaring from the speakers of the corner CD vender. I got 3 albums for a buck .50 (Sorry MJ! It was a good deal =/) 

He was really such an amazing artist, and despite the controversy that followed him his true fans always loved him; including me. Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE M.J., I loved to listen to his music, and loved even more to WATCH him. His dance skills made me so envious! He was a musical genius damnit! I love him so much and I really can’t believe it. His relevance will withstand the test of time and he is hands down, the KING of pop and will always be. No one single artist has come close to MJ. I still can't believe him, even my mom called me to tell me how sad and unexpected this was. 
I’m sure this is horribly written but I just wanted to let of my thoughts as they came to mind.

Been mad busy with Finals and the like, but now school is out (for 3 weeks! =/) and I'm back with some more info...
Now usually, any type of free sh** usually gets me up and out the door, but this one in particular hit close to home :] The Corcoran is offering free Saturday admission for the summer! ( reg. price = $10)

Earth First Family Day on June 20 will kick-off Free Summer Saturdays at the Corcoran Gallery of Art. Visitors will enjoy the Corcoran’s summer exhibitions and family programming free of admission on Saturdays through August 29. A sampling of Saturday programming will include:

Saturday, June 27 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Workshop* for adults with a focus on Maya Lin: Systematic Landscapes, Gallery activities and hands-on projects.

Saturday, July 11 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 pm – “Natural Impressions” Family Workshop*, Gallery activities and hands-on projects.

Saturday, July 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Liz Lerman Dance Exchange Performances in the Gallery.

Saturday, July 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. – “Architecture Day” including interior and exterior tours of the Corcoran’s historic Beaux Arts building.

Saturday, August 1from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Workshops* for adults with a focus on American paintings from the Corcoran’s collection, Gallery activities and a silkscreen project.

Saturday, August 8 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. – “Horizon Line” Family Workshop*, Gallery activities and hands-on projects.
*Workshops may incur an $8-$12 materials fee per participant.
