One of the most talked about and visited parties in D.C. is poppin' off tonight! An amazing - at times hands on art party with huge installments and a full fledged light show. A unique party in a great setting that’s ALWAYS sold out. Don’t miss it, they only do this 4 times a year – and I bet you’ll be talking about it for days. One of the most unique party’s in the city-Be there!

Its Semi-warm!

....which always makes me want to go out and spend the hubby's cake on new clothes. I saw these at Commonwealth. (Also available online for those of you who aren't fortuneate enough to live in the DMV ;]) Ahh, must have. Fresh!

2009 NEW AFRICAN FILMS FESTIVAL March 19 - 25

Did you know that D.C. is home to the Largest Ethiopian population outside of Ethiopia? Neither did I! I can thank Samantha Brown for schoolin' me on that one, after i watched her Travel channel special when she visited D.C. ;] Ever fitting, Harvest 3000 premieres at the AFI Silver Theatre, on the big screen again for the first time in over 30 years!Know your roots!

    Tickets: $10

Shot under extremely difficult circumstances in Ethiopia during the early 1970s right after the overthrow of Haile Selasse, Haile Gerima's HARVEST 3000 YEARS gives epic treatment to the lives of Ethiopia's rural peasantry, their struggles against oppression and quest for justice. A wealthy landowner treats his tenant farmers cruelly, but they are afraid to confront him for fear of losing their livelihood. Only the village "madman" is willing to speak truth to power.

A bold, funny and controversial film directed by the politically explosive Nigerian-Brit filmmaker Ngozi Onwurah. The film's opening line,"...everything bad that has ever happened to me has involved a black person," rouses and prepares us for a critically insightful and intellectually charged confrontation of ideological and cultural perspectives that is candidly rendered in this remarkably thought-provoking film. Thursday, March 19, 9:45 & Saturday, March 21, 7:45

Spa Week

This is for all my gorgeous people out there, Spa week is right around the corner! from April 13-April 19, several hundred spas across the country will be offering their elite services for just $50 a treatment. This tradition is especially true for the vast majority of the salons in the DMV. I'm partial to Moniques Boutique & Day spa (although its not listed!) in W.Springfield, but I've also added a link of The Washintonian's "Great Hair: 45 Great Salons" article for your research pleasure, as well as a link here to visit spa finder for spas in your area! Just make sure to make an appointment ASAP, as they book up very quickly - very soon. Don't say I didnt warn you ;]

Estelle/Ryan L @ 9.30

Sorry for the short notice - but I just found out that tickets are still on sale for tomorrows show at the 9:30 Club. Estelle, the Grammy award winning singer, rapper and producer will be performing along with the Multi-talented Ryan Leslie. This show should be an especially good one for the venue since it is so intimate; you’re bound to get a good view of these two. Click here for tickets!

Civilian Art Projects

Today is the last day to catch the Seth Adelsberger's Semi-Frontal Frontiers & Christopher Sims' Guantanamo Bay exhibitions at the Civilian Art Projects Gallery. Don't miss out on Adelsberger's use of geometric lines and amazing usage of color! I can already see "Big Night" hangin’ in my D.C. loft... A girl can dream right? :]
